Fancy a walking experience but not sure what destination to choose? Well, with the incredible Ulster Way, you don’t have to settle for just one county as you can explore an entire province all at once!! Taking you around the six counties of Northern Ireland, it really is the ultimate walking route! As this unbelievable trail is so jam-packed full of activity from beginning to end, I’m just going to take you through some of its highlights…

One of the finest routes along the way is the Causeway Coast Way in Co. Antrim, an invigorating 52km trail beginning in the town of Portstewart and ending in Ballycastle. It opens your eyes to the true beauty of Northern Ireland, with its breathtaking coastal views and natural rock arches. And what’s more, at the very core of this memorable route is the renowned Giant’s Causeway itself. Trust me, this route is not one to be missed!

Another fantastic walkway is that of Dungiven to Castlerock in Co. Derry, which also incorporates the North Sperrins Way. This 60km route leads you through some tranquil rural roads onto more challenging forest trails and open moorland and then back to the rural roads that lead you into the town of Castlerock. This extensive trail gives you the opportunity to enjoy some walking highlights whilst also taking in your outstanding surroundings.

The Newry Canal Way, in Co. Down, offers up a different style of walk, a more historic and heritage-based one. The 28km trail from the town of Newry to Portadown, allows you to explore the restored towpath of the celebrated Newry Canal. This unique pathway enables you to become familiar with the beautiful countryside that envelopes this trail but also the fascinating industrial heritage of the local area. Also, the fact that the towpath is entirely surfaced by gravel path or tarmac means that it is suitable for all walkers.

So, as you can see, the Ulster Way offers up a huge variety of sights to be seen and things to be learned! I couldn’t possibly express the true extent of this ultimate route in just one blog so I guess you’re just going to have to explore it for yourself…. Enjoy!!
